Emily C. Dossett, MD, MTS

Psychiatrist in Pasadena, California, Focusing on Women's Mental Health
What to Expect
After you have contacted Dr. Dossett by email or phone, she will return your message within one business day.  At that time, you and Dr. Dossett will decide if she will be able to meet your needs and, if so, when you can meet in person.  For many people, the first visit to a psychiatrist can feel overwhelming, and any questions or concerns you may have can be addressed in this initial phone call.  You will also be given more specific directions about location, parking, and accessing the building.

The first visit will last approximately 90 minutes.  Spouses, partners, family members, or other significant people in your life are welcome, though Dr. Dossett may ask for a few minutes alone with you as well.  At the end of the session, you and Dr. Dossett will decide on how to proceed.  Should you need immediate treatment, that will be addressed and follow up appointments made.  If the visit is a consultation, Dr. Dossett will ask for approximately one week's time to prepare a complete consultation report.  You will then reschedule a 30-minute follow up visit to go over the consultation report, and you will receive a copy for your records at that time.  If more long-term treatment is in order, you and Dr. Dossett will decide that together.  Should you have any questions or concerns during this process, Dr. Dossett will be available by voicemail or email each business day and will return all messages within one business day or the next morning.

Dr. Dossett's fee structure is available at the time of initial inquiry.  Please note that she does not currently accept insurance, but will provide you with a receipt for services with which you can bill your insurance company.  All fees are to be paid in full at the time of service.
